WATCH: Notorious Minnesota Leftist Waves a Somali Flag and Speaks in Somalian While Pledging His Loyalty to Somalia in a Minneapolis Rally

A socialist candidate for mayor—who some are referring to as the “Mamdani of Minneapolis”—Omar Fateh, made an appearance on stage at a rally held in his city where he disgraced the United States by waving the Hiiraan State flag from Somalia while speaking to his supporters in a foreign language. The clip is currently making the rounds on social media and has stirred up a firestorm of controversy.

The video shows Fateh making his rounds on the campaign trail, chanting “Somalia” along with other phrases and slogans in a foreign language. He then told the crowd that “early voting” kicks off on “November fourth” and that he needed everyone in the audience to cast their ballots for him in order to secure victory.

Fateh has been compared to the socialist candidate for mayor of New York City, Zohran Mamdani, due to the similarities in their values, principles, and policies. The two men have referred to one another as friends. Both also have connections to the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA).

This isn’t the first time Fateh has attempted to appeal to voters using his Somali heritage. Minnesota—specifically the city of Minneapolis—is known for having a very populous Somali community. That same community held a rally for Fateh during the summer. One of his supporters jumped up, grabbed the microphone, and started yelling in Somali. Several of his campaign announcements have also been posted in Somali.

House Majority Whip Rep. Tom Emmer, a Republican, commented on one of Fateh’s rallies back in August, writing on X, “This is the least shocking news: There were almost no American flags at an @OmarFatehMN rally. Palestinian stickers were the main focus instead. That’s what you get when Democrats back a candidate who puts America last, hands out benefits to illegals, and pushes to defund the police.” Not long after the rally, the Minnesota Democratic-Farmer-Labor Party (DFL) dropped its endorsement of Fateh, citing “substantial failures in the Minneapolis Convention’s voting process.”

Richard Carlborn, DFL Party Chairman, released an official statement at the time, saying, “After a thoughtful and transparent review of the challenges, the Constitution, Bylaws & Rules Committee found substantial failures in the Minneapolis Convention’s voting process on July 19th, including an acknowledgment that a mayoral candidate was errantly eliminated from contention.”

Fateh responded to the DFL’s decision to pull their endorsement by saying the decision was made by “28 party insiders,” whom he claimed included supporters and even a few donors of current Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey. Democratic Gov. Tim Walz—a failed presidential and vice-presidential candidate—has also backed Frey, according to Fox News.

According to The Post Millennial, Fateh’s official government profile reveals that he describes himself as a “democratic socialist” and currently serves as a state senator for Minnesota’s District 62. Fateh has backed several initiatives, including one to make Minneapolis a “safe haven” for gender-affirming surgeries and abortion procedures. He’s also advocated for raising the minimum wage. Another policy he’s pushed for is “rent stabilization,” which would freeze rents—a position shared by New York City’s Mamdani.
