Newly declassified DOJ files show Comey and Obama FBI did not adequately investigate Clinton Scandal
Newly declassified documents from the Department of Justice have confirmed that under James Comey, the FBI failed to properly investigate the Hillary Clinton email scandal.
The revelations also shed light on the same FBI’s aggressive and deeply flawed push of the now-debunked Trump-Russia collusion hoax.
The documents, known as the “Clinton Annex,” were attached to the DOJ Inspector General’s 2018 report but were never made public until now.
They reveal that key evidence, including thumb drives containing classified emails, was never thoroughly reviewed or even searched by FBI agents.
According to Senator Chuck Grassley, the new evidence exposes “an extreme lack of effort and due diligence in the FBI’s investigation.”
Grassley added, “Under Comey’s leadership, the FBI failed to perform fundamental investigative work and left key pieces of evidence on the cutting room floor.”
These same thumb drives reportedly contained sensitive information, including Department of Homeland Security data and possibly communications involving Barack Obama.
Yet the FBI ignored the contents, choosing not to conduct targeted keyword searches or metadata analysis.
In contrast, the FBI poured immense resources into chasing down the discredited Steele dossier and pursuing Trump-Russia conspiracy theories with zero basis in fact. The double standard is now undeniable.
Critics argue this new information further supports claims that the FBI was politically compromised and acted as an enforcer for the Democratic Party.
“The Clinton investigation was a cover-up, while the Trump investigation was a witch hunt,” said one former federal prosecutor.
Newly declassified records also indicate that intelligence officials during the Obama administration pushed the Russia narrative with politicized intent. Documents released by former DNI official Tulsi Gabbard reveal Obama-era communications that show coordination among top officials to bolster the false Trump-Russia narrative.
The Justice Department has responded to these revelations by forming a special strike force to investigate the alleged weaponization of intelligence under Obama, Comey, Brennan, and Clapper.
A DOJ spokesperson confirmed that the strike force will examine how politically motivated decisions shaped investigations and whether laws were broken in the process.
This follows years of Republican claims that the FBI and intelligence community were weaponized against Donald Trump. These latest disclosures only bolster those accusations.
House Republicans are now calling for a full Congressional hearing. They want top Obama officials subpoenaed and questioned under oath about what they knew, when they knew it, and what actions they took.
“This is about restoring trust in our institutions,” said House Oversight Chair James Comer. “We can no longer allow partisan actors to manipulate federal agencies to serve political goals.”
The media, which breathlessly covered every baseless Trump-Russia leak, has been largely silent on these new revelations. Conservatives see this as further proof of a corrupt mainstream press.
Senator Josh Hawley called the newly declassified annex “the smoking gun” that exposes “the rot at the heart of the FBI.”
Legal analysts predict the fallout could be significant. If the DOJ strike force finds violations, former Obama-era officials may face serious legal consequences.
Meanwhile, Donald Trump has called the new evidence “total vindication,” saying it proves that the real scandal was the protection of Hillary Clinton and the assault on his presidency.
