BREAKING: Republicans Demand an Investigation into NYC Mayoral Candidate Zohran Mamdani After it Was Revealed He Took…

A growing number of voices are calling for a full-scale investigation into New York City mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani after reports revealed his campaign accepted nearly $13,000 in potentially illegal foreign donations.

The scandal has rattled the city’s political establishment and raised new questions about transparency and accountability among progressive Democrats.

According to the New York Post, at least 170 contributions came from donors using foreign addresses, violating U.S. campaign finance laws that strictly prohibit foreign nationals from funding American political campaigns.

The findings have sparked outrage from across the political spectrum.

Campaign finance records show that Mamdani’s campaign returned only part of the questionable donations — roughly $5,608 — while leaving more than $7,000 unaccounted for.

That revelation has triggered demands for state and federal investigators to step in before the election.

“This isn’t just a paperwork issue,” said one election integrity advocate. “It’s a serious breach of trust. If a candidate can’t manage legal donations, how can they be trusted to manage a city?”

The controversy comes just weeks before voters head to the polls, casting a dark cloud over the self-proclaimed socialist’s campaign. Mamdani, who built his political brand on progressive causes and anti-capitalist rhetoric, is now facing accusations of hypocrisy and deception.

Critics say the issue reflects a pattern of disregard for rules among far-left politicians. “These are the same people who talk about fairness and equity, but they don’t follow the law themselves,” said Republican strategist Steven Cheung. “It’s another example of the left playing by a different set of rules.”

In a statement, Mamdani’s team acknowledged the issue but downplayed its significance. “We are reviewing all contributions and returning any that are not in compliance with campaign finance laws,” the statement read.

However, the lack of transparency about which donations were returned has only fueled suspicion.

The New York City Campaign Finance Board has yet to comment on whether a formal investigation will be launched, but pressure is mounting. Local Republican leaders have called for the Department of Justice to intervene, citing potential violations of federal election laws.

“This is not just about New York,” said Curtis Sliwa, founder of the Guardian Angels. “If foreign money can slip into an American mayoral race in plain sight, what’s stopping it from influencing national elections?”

The alleged foreign contributions reportedly came from multiple countries, including Canada and the United Kingdom. While not all foreign donations are illegal under certain contexts, contributions from non-citizens to U.S. political campaigns are explicitly prohibited.

The scandal has also revived calls for tighter oversight of small-dollar campaign donations, which are often used by progressive campaigns to demonstrate grassroots support. Analysts now say those systems are vulnerable to abuse.

“It’s ironic,” said political analyst Joe Borelli. “The left always accuses conservatives of corruption, but here we have a socialist candidate caught red-handed with foreign cash.”

Even some Democrats are quietly expressing concern. One Democratic donor told reporters, “This is bad optics for all of us. If he doesn’t clear this up immediately, it could hurt the party in November.”

President Trump has weighed in on the controversy, describing it as “a wake-up call for Americans.” Speaking from the White House, he said, “Foreign money has no place in our elections. We’re going to make sure it never happens again.”

Trump’s administration has already instructed the Federal Election Commission to review its auditing process for local campaigns, signaling that further oversight may be on the horizon.

Meanwhile, conservative commentators are calling the incident proof that left-wing politicians can’t be trusted with power.

Fox News host Laura Ingraham said on her show, “These so-called progressives preach about democracy while taking money from foreign donors. It’s hypocrisy in its purest form.”
